"The elevator. The composition is a play on the indecisive encounters with a stranger in the lift. It’s a very strangely intimate moment: shy, a little cold but all the while pleasant. We smile politely at one another, but don’t give ourselves away too much. The movement of the lift creates a diversion, as displayed in the split grooves of the linen.”
